Hi everyone,

My name is Trond and some years ago I bought a Col. Conk set from Knifecenter with the intent of starting straight razor shaving. Of course, it was too dull to shave with, so I sent it out for honing. It came back much better, and I started shaving my cheeks with the grain. Soon however, the razor started pulling, maybe because of my lousy stropping technique. I did some research on honing and tried with the stone from the set. I had already gathered that many considered it useless. I just figured I had nothing to lose, and I wouldn't be able to destroy the blade. But as you probably already have guessed, no luck there. I decided to send it out again, but I never got to it. The razor ended up on a shelf in a closet.

Fast forward a few months ago, I suddenly figured I would give it another go. Only this time, I would buy stones and no matter what, get that razor sharp myself. Some googling and different strokes, I finally got it hair-popping sharp and repeated the success for a buddy who had bought the same set.

The increased sharpness made for a better shave and I kinda got the bug. Getting the hang of straight razor shaving gave me a huge feeling of gratification I have not experienced with a disposable cartridge, and I enjoy taking care of the razor(s), regarding them as a high precision tools.

I've since bought a shavette and another dovo, which brings me to the real reason for me signing up: I have a question you might be able to help me with.

Anyways, happy shaving!
