Some great advice around here, welcome aboard!
Hi Travis & welcome to SRP. You'll be happy with whichever razor you get from SRD. Lynn, the owner of this forum is part owner of SRD & he hones & strops each razor before it leaves there so you won't need to hone it on the very first use but after that you will. If you have the bucks, I wold upgrade to the 3" English Bridle strop. That's the way to go. I hope you have been to the Library here where is the place to learn about everything you need to know as a beginner,. You most importantly need to learn to strop first hand. Meanwhile you can practice with an old wide leather belt & a butter knife so that you don't cut a good strop when you get one by accidentally going the wrong way which many of us have done when first starting out. Here's a link to Lynn's YouTube video's if you haven't seen them yet:

If you have any questions, just ask on the forum or feel free to pm me. I'll be more than happy to help out in anyway I can.
Good luck my friend!
Welcome to SRP!
Hi and welcome. Either razor will be fine and both are good quality. A 3 inch strop is helpful when starting out and as said something with medium draw is best to start with. Do plenty of reading or a search and you will find answers to most of your questions but if not feel free to ask. Good luck
Welcome to the forum Travis. The Boker King Cutter is a great razor to start with. As for the strop, a 3" is easier to use than a 21/2" as you won't need to learn to x-stroke, but as already advised, don't spend a fortune on your first. You will almost definitely nick it, possibly so badly you'll ruin it. The most important thing... Enjoy your SR journey! Good luck.
Welcome to SRP :)
If your ever in the Twin Cities come on over and we can have some honing sessions. I have had about 7 new guys come over since January and helped them get started with honing/stropping etc.
I will send you my contact details via PM. ( Look at the Notifications on the top right of this screen)
