Welcome. I am sort of thinking you need a different razor. Heirloom razors need to be protected from us when we have just started out. We rand to be a little hard on gear and goon things from time to time. Buy nice and inexpensive second hand shave ready razor to learn on. Send the heirlooms out to be professionally honed and maybe cleaned up, depends on the razors. When you have you basic technique down and are not likely to do anything bad to your Heirloom ices bust them out. Heirloom pieces are awesome, and there is only one way to get them!

Definitely read the Beginner's section in the library and watch some shave videos.
And if you can find someone nearby to help you, it will be all that much better.
