    Default New to Straights

New to straights, been shaving with the DE for awhile. I inherited a couple of straights years ago and decided I wanted to learn to appreciate and enjoy them.

Welcome to SRP. I would suggest you find a someone to help you get them shave ready and then give it a whirl.

Welcome. I am sort of thinking you need a different razor. Heirloom razors need to be protected from us when we have just started out. We rand to be a little hard on gear and goon things from time to time. Buy nice and inexpensive second hand shave ready razor to learn on. Send the heirlooms out to be professionally honed and maybe cleaned up, depends on the razors. When you have you basic technique down and are not likely to do anything bad to your Heirloom ices bust them out. Heirloom pieces are awesome, and there is only one way to get them!

Hi and welcome. I would agree with Shaun find another razor to start with and keep the heirloom razors safe from newb mistakes. Good luck and any questions feel free to ask

    Welcome to the SRP Forum!

Be sure to send your vintage razors out to be professionally honed before you try to use them.

Here is a link to the SRP Beginners Guide to Straight Shaving. This will help you with the things you need to know before you begin your experience with a straight razor.

Here is a link to the SRP Library. This will help you with pretty much anything relating to shaving with a straight razor.

Here is a link that will help you find other SRP members in your area, just insert your location and hit search now. Note that the user name listing in red is a mentor, if you should need any personal help.

Welcome to the world of straight razor shaving!

    Welcome to SRP!
+1 for saving the heirlooms until you know how to shave. It's real easy to mess up a blade during the first few months.
Definitely read the Beginner's section in the library and watch some shave videos.

And if you can find someone nearby to help you, it will be all that much better.
