    Hello,
    I just wanted to introduce myself and say hello. I am looking forward to learning from you all. I have used a Dovo disposable straight razor and I am looking to upgrade to a used (vintage or newer) real straight. Any input on where I should look or guidance on what to avoid is appreciated. I read the razors to avoid list and that is helpful. I don't have a lot of money to spend on a really nice razor yet but if anyone can guide me on a purchase I'd be very thankful!

    Welcome to the forum. You will find lot of knowledgeable and friendly people here. If you follow the classifieds section it is probably the best place to buy vintage razor in great condition at value prices. All the ads are clearly marked as to if the blade is shave ready or not. Most times they are shave ready, but do watch for that. As a new shaver the shave ready is a very important part. New razors tend to be a little more money and there are a few vendors that do deliver a truly shave ready blade.

    Always some reasonably priced razors in the classifieds and make sure you get a strop, a decent one , you will need it more than anything else. Find a brush and soap and I'd money is an issue , go to Wally World and get a Van Der Hagan deluxe starter kit, then read , and watch videos , but mostly take your time and send the razor out to be honed until you can shave effectively and maintain great shaves with a strop. , take the advise and have fun.     I'm not sure how much money you have to spend but you can get a nice RA razor for 100.00 It's a lot of razor for the money IMO. Good luck and have fun!
