Welcome to the forum. There are a lot of Canadians, I think a few from Manitoba. There is a ton of information here and lots of friendly and knowledgable people. There is a little bit to learn. An important starting point is that you begging with a hand sharpened, shave ready edge. Where did you get your stuff from?
Well my first razor I got years ago. It was an old one a friend scored used and sold to me after he had it honed. Then I had no patience for straight shaving but have since decided to try again. I dug my razor out of my drawer only to find it had not fared storage well. I decided to order a dovo 6/8 bismark from classsic edge till I could try to restore my old one and use as a spare. I think Phil over at classic edge does a good job sharpening them, or so others have said.
Hello Mistro and welcome to SRP 'eh. ;)
It would appear that you are well on your way and heading in the right direction.
Dovo 6/8 bismark is a wise choice and coming from Phil you can be assured that it will be shave ready.
I wouldn't strop it right away as you probably are well aware of the risk of rounding the edge.
There are a lot of aspects to master but in the end it is all very worthwhile.
Enjoy the journey.
