    Default Another hooked gent

Hi from Florida soon to be Tennessee. Just started straight razor shaving and I am hooked. I hated shaving until I recently started wet shaving out of curiosity. Took the next step recently and bought a Dovo straight. Then a couple of Wade and Butchers, Thater brush, some more Gillette DE's, Shaving soaps,After shaves, strops. Even got my wife on board with her own Gillette Ladies with rose shaving cream. I look forward to a lifetime of learning, enjoyment and getting more envolved.

Welcome to an older but better way of shaving

Where are you going to locate in TN? There's good people there! Maybe close enough for some one on one learing which is the best there is!

Take things slow, do lots of reading and enjoy learning this age old art!

Thanks, I am moving to Cookeville TN. What a great journey to take. If you have to shave for the rest of your life you might as well make it as enjoyable as possible. I sure do hear what your saying about taking it slow. Who would have thought that there is so much to learn from straight razor shaving. The hardest part seems to be waiting for the whiskers to grow back.

Welcome aboard SCHMIEDE. Looks like you got a pretty good start so far. There's a wealth of information here & you can start with the Library in the Beginners Guide & go from there if you haven't yet. Great to have you here & if you can find someone near you for some hands on help, that would be a plus.
    Good luck my friend.

Welcome from the state of Tennessee, ya if you don't take any other advise see if you can find someone close to you to offer up a little help, one on one is the fastest way to great shaves, I,m quite a ways from you , but I,m here if you need anything, also make sure your getting your blade pro honed in the beginning, cause the learning curve on stropping and shaving is enough to take on, or just let them hone it for the rest of its life if you want , after you learn it don't need to go to the hones very often, read all you can and go slow,, if you do a search there is some guys over east that have been ding this a while Good luck and feel free to contact me. While he hasn't been active here at the forum lately I have a friend who is in Elizabethtown , KY who might be able to help you. He's a barber and has a family at home so he's always busy. However I'll see if I can get a hold of him for you and maybe you could get together. The mileage calculator I used says he's about 145 miles from your new home in TN.
