My name is Michael, and while researching a razor I have and a strop I came upon this sight. What brought me here was curiosity. I have a Union Razor Cutlery Co. Union Springs Georgia, straight razor with the following markings which I can find nothing on. I hope someone here can help with some background. .The box says " Improved Southern Queen", and the blade is etched with " The Americans give the right hand of fellowship to all nations and own an universal brotherhood" The tang,(as best I can make out) is stamped X(can't read it WST_____ and below is a T I (I think)SHEFFIELD RM(I think it is RM). The razor I am told has never been sharpened or stropped(according to family it was a gift and never used at all, maybe yes, maybe no). It has a black what appears to be plastic or phenolic handle. The box is just starting to come apart at the ends, but is in overall good shape. The strop is ink stamped on the back of the light colored leather(two panels one natural it seems) ROUGH NECK ELK BRAND(and I think)PEARLDUCK INC., NEW YORK 36 NEW YORK. The natural colored leather strop has the imprint of a Llama, and above the image stamped LLAMA BRAND. At the lower end it is stamped MORGAN RAZOR WORKS in an Eagle symbol that looks like the presidential seal. Below that it is stamped A295S between upper and lower olive branch symbols, and below this there is a sunburst symbol which says "QUALITY COUNTS". I hope someone here can tell me some history on these. Thanks in advance for any help you can give. I would have thought that the world wide web would smoke out something on this particular set,, but no joy. May God Bless.
