Hello everybody just took the plunge and purchased my first SR,a vintage SR Droescher #79 in very nice condition. So i had to pick it up because of the quality hones they sold that i was already aware of. I have a collection of vintage Pike stones that i sharpen knives with and did some google searches for info on honing SR and i found this site.Very imformative and a lot of members sharing their expertise. So i found out i only needed one more stone lol(I have over dozen of them) . I was either getting a fine coticle or vintage thuri. I ended up finding a 4x2 y/g thuri it's in the mail and i can't wait to try it . So if you guys have any tips and advise please feel free to give your imput, Thanks in advance.

A little more info on me i was a machinist for over five years and that gave me a insight and apreciation of well made, especialy hand made products.Insite because i got to see and understand haw much it cost to produce quality items whether using forged or billet for example. That is what draws me to SR,it falls into that catagory and then the skill to hone it properly to top it off. That falls right up my alley of things that i like. From real Organic foods and produce to hand forged knives and SR and all the way up to a five axis cnc to produce Quality products is the end result. That stands the test of time which is the ultimate judge. SR and sharpening stones are bolth examples of that fenomenom and not too many thing can fall in that catagory. I love learning so please give as much advice as you can.
Thanks again, yours in sport
