Welcome!
Lincoln you say, Well it just so happens you have a straight razor specialist just a city over from you in Nottingham.
The Straight Razor Specialist - Razor Sharpening, Honing, Whetstones and Strops. Razor Sharpening UK, Razor Honing UK, Razor Sharpening Nottingham, Razor Honing Nottingham
Gary Haywood the man who owns and runs it, Is a barber and trader in straights. He does honing, Sells coticule sharpening stones, Strops, and cheap ready to shave razors. If you call him and have a chat he will be more than happy to have you call in look and have a look at his stock. You can probably arrange to have your razor honed if it needs it, and I think he can give you a shave with your own razor at his standard pricing.
IMHO you would be a fool not to contact him and have a trip over because you will learn more in that visit than you would in a few weeks on the forums.

Welcome to SRP!
Hi and Welcome to SRP, nice to see another UK member.
Thanks alpla444 I have seen the light. But I tried mine Friday night and lets just say it was a blood bath, Looked like I had committed murder in the bathroom, I cut my ear lobe and being on blood thinners and anti clotting. The wife was putting that stuff on that's like a plaster in a bottle, then blowing on my ear to stop the blood after 2 hours.
All of us have done what you did so don't feel too bad. A nick or two is par for the course. The trick is to shave off the lather. The only way to do that is to lay the spine of your razor in such a way as almost touching your skin. Be very gentle with short strokes. You will get better so do persevere. This hobby is a lot of fun. Take your time. And enjoy the journey. Welcome aboard.
