So those are heirloom pieces, which makes them most valuable, that combined with the scales on the one, makes them not very good choices to learn with. I suggest you get a nice shave ready blade from the classifieds to learn to shave with and save those for special shaves. It will save those razors from beginner mistakes. They happen, and it is always best they happen to something less valuable.

But if you do decide, make it the Torrey, it doesn't have a square point. And you'll need to have it pro honed, and then there's the stropping.
Really...find some local help, first. A mentor in your area would be a great bonus to you.

I think maybe it is a chicken riding a fox, not for any reason other than foxes and chickens sort of go together.
Thanks for all the info and advice guys, really appreciate it! Yeah I'm thinking these razors deserve a lot more respect than how I'd be able to treat them right now, so I'll start off with a cheaper razor until I am worthy. :)
