Hello all! I wanted to introduce myself.. I started straight razor shaving about 10 months ago. It’s growing into a serious addiction. I’m hoping to learn a little and contribute when I can. Looking forward to speaking with you all. I’m from upstate New York and I travel international for work (blood sucking salesperson). I love skilled nearly impossible hobbies such as golf, table tennis and cooking. Anything that is nearly impossible to perfect and requires a lot of concentration and technique.

I am not sure this is an almost impossible hobby, but the journey will begin with a water hazard.
Water does not lubricate the skin, but dries it. So, we start with a decent quality soap/cream designed for wet shaving.
Then a proper cutting instrument, then, much practice and experimentation.
After that, some folks start romancing the stone! and stones, and stones.
Take me to your leather, I'll see your mirror later.
But that allows the skin game to progress, bloodlessly.
Have fun, there are a lot of folks here that are at various stages of the journey and can answer most any question.
