Thank you all so much!
I forgot to mention the strop, I have a simple 3" leather and canvas strop which is getting tattered already with my poor technique! I will be ordering another shortly...
Cheers!

Based on personal experience, I suggest you get a paddle or bench strop. Bench strops can be had in 3” width and allow you to strop on a flat., firm surface that is the same width as the razor. That means no X-strokes and dealing with getting the correct tension on a hanging strop while you develop the muscle memory needed to strop correctly and avoid cutting the leather.
Here’s a quick video on using a bench strop:

They also tend to be a lot cheaper than good quality hanging strops
Welcome. :)
Welcome aboard! I'm in the bay area, but still new to SR shaving having only been at it for about 5 months now. Granted I would consider myself to have a bit of an addictive personality disorder, but this rabbit hole is deep and the fall can be fast (And pretty awesome). Lots of awesome folks here, enjoy it all and best of luck!
My name is John and I have a case of RAD...it's been two days since my last Razor Aquisition...:D
just picked up two more SR's...and looking at more. It's great though! I have always liked knives now I get to use a blade all the time! What a blast!
Pretty soon I'll have to install a showcase in my closet for all my special beauties!
Thanks all for being so welcoming to this great information rich forum!
Cheers!
