At least you'll be adapt to a square point, by then.
Welcome to SRP!!!!!
You've been given a lot of great advise so far. Check out the LIBRARY there's a lot of great info in there.
Get yourself a brush, and a bowl to make you lather in. I'm betting you could find something around the house to use as a bowl if it's not in your budget right now.
Also check out the MONTHLY GIVEAWAY. I post up some great sets there and if you win, you could be hooked up with a good set. :tu
Enjoy and have fun!!!!
Hi and welcome aboard. Nothing wrong with re lathering if you need to. Hard to have to much good lather.
Out of curiosity, will I be able to use the whetstone I have for my chef knives when I get a straight razor? I currently have the model in the link (1000/6000 grit) and a diamond plate for keeping my stones flat.

I don't have experience with that stone but you could probably use it. You would want something to bridge the gap between 1 and 6k and a finishing stone for after though. You would also want to lap before every use to ensure clean and flat
After completing my fifth shave I am getting more confident. I spent a much longer time on my pre-shave. Shower, applied some creme, put on a hot towel, rinsed off, applied beard oil as a pre-shave and applied more creme before the shave. This seemed to help with the shave a good bit and I even used my left hand for most of the left side of my face. I still had a few minor nicks but they didn't really bother me. I used light pressure but still need to work on blade angle.
