Smile New straight shaver, but not a new wet shaver...

    Hello all,
I have just recently discovered this forum and I am excited to participate. I returned to traditional wet shaving in 2014, after 40 years of Trac II's, Norelco's, and multi-blade carts. I was hot and heavy into vintage Gillettes for about 4 years. Most recently, 22 shaves ago, to be exact, I had my first straight shave. A Wade & Butcher. I was hooked. I am nowhere near as proficient as I will be, but am truly enjoying the journey. I have significantly improved my stropping skills and have brought an edge back to a Boker Red-Injun. I am also looking forward to "meeting" many of you right here on this forum.

    Welcome, it’s all about stropping.

Take your time and get the stropping down. Hold the razor from corner to corner, so the corner of the tang is in the middle of your thumb, and opposite orner in your index finger, then move your thumb like flipping a light switch.

Learning to flip the razor like that will keep you from flipping with your wrist, and shoulder and using only your hand. So. you are not slamming the edge into the strop.

Go slow and pay attention. Proper stropping will keep you shaving a long time.
