Thanked: 1New to the Cut Throat community
Hello gents,
I was given my first cut throat by my wife as a christmas gift. I have been thoroughly enjoying it.
The gift was a vintage 6/8 Famex Bagpiper. Still learning but looking forward to gaining some knowledge.
Anyway,
Cheers

Welcome to SRP. Did you send your razor away for honing? A true hand honed blade is the way to start. Ask questions and enjoy the fun on SRP.
It's just Sharpening, right?

Welcome Luke, you are at the right place. I must admit that I am a bit jealous as my wife typically gifts me clothing items. Why not share a picture ( of your razor) Thats a good vintage brand in a nice size.
If you are thoroughly enjoying it then I imagine it shaves very well and therefore was properly honed.

Welcome. Look around especially in the beginners section. There's lots of really good information there. Hope you got a good strop also. That is the number one most important tool for maintaining the edge on your razor. If it is properly honed and with proper stropping technique you should be able to preserve that edge for quite a while. Read lots of posts, watch lots of videos, ask lots of questions and, oh yeah, post some pictures. Have fun with it. That's the whole aim of all of this

Thanked: 1Thanks for the warm welcome. I will most definitely post some pictures of the gear. The Chap who sold my wife the razor did hone it before sending it. It was shave ready when I received it. He has been very helpful with giving some insight into the history etc. and how to start traditional wet shaving. I have bought an 25mm Italian Boar brush, and a 3 inch leather strop.
