    Default Hello from Dorset

60 years old and am moving towards a straight razor as I find it increasingly harder to find the humble razor blade, it seems they are band on ebay in the UK and the shops where they do offer them only have blades for shaving M/F legs. Buying mail order seems to be such a hassle and Amazon fared not much better any way enough of my sobs. Nice to be aboard.

    Welcome Mike!
Once you get on to the straight you'll never shave with anything else.
Your heart has to be in it though, it's not an overnight thing.

Hello mike from an expat in Canada.

There's loads of good advice here from guys that have been straight shaving for years and you can be sure they will help you all they can.

Do you have a razor yet?

    Welcome aboard, mate.

If you don't have a straight razor yet. Ask us for recommendations. We've been there done that, to help guys new to straights.

If your going with modern made, I'd choose Boker, over Dovo, as an entry level razor.

Or look into our, buy/sell/trade, thread. Guys here won't sell something they won't use themselves, if they haven't already.

Could be anything from modern, custom, hand forged, or vintage razors, in there.

Just make sure it's shave ready, and u have a decent low cost strop to learn on. I used old leather belts I'd grown out of. Better than hacking up a new strop.
