Well, I'm already about 70 posts in but have never formally introduced myself - so here goes:
Hi Everybody, my name's Frankenstein, er, Rob and I'm addicted to razors; I'm addicted to hones; I'm not yet addicted to soaps or creams but that'll probably change.
I also enjoy reading the posts on here more than talking to my own friends - so I guess I've got some serious problems.
Thanks for letting me be a part of the forum,
Cheers

Welcome to SRP Frank! You sound like just about everyone of us here! We all suffer from R.A.D., S.C.A.D., B.A.D. and H.A.D. The only cure is to read SRP daily and share ideas with everybody else! It's great to have you aboard! Take care and God Bless!

Thanks Doc I sharpen knives as a hobbie its verry relaxing. I have seen the video you speek of its an exerpt from a dvd colection on knife sharpaning. I may buy it some day but for now my own methods developed over the last 16 years will do for sharpaning (I rairly get a knife razor sharp the edge just wont last under heavy use I stick to something a little more low mantnance) I look at this as a way to expand my skills on sharpaning and just a way to have fun with shaving

Calgacus says hi.
My name's nik, I'm a scottish guy living in London and my SRP name is Calgacus (the first scottish warrior).
I've been straight razor shaving for about a year now and love it, and yes, I will admit it - I am addicted. I've only got one W&B razor though so I guess I've got an excuse for looking for a new one all the time (need a back up, at least that's what I keep telling myself!?).

I guess I never actually introduced myself although I am finding this forum more and more helpful everyday it seems. My name is Andrew and I guess my interest here stems from a love of days past. I think that my wife shakes her head and puts up with my odd ways whether it is pocket watches, 3 piece suits, or straight razors. Sometimes I think we are too quick to throw out the old without any better reason that 'progress'. I do appreciate all of you that have been so helpful to me as I've been exploring the wide world of straight razors... Thanks and keep up the great work!

Another silent Newbie
Hello,
I have been shaving with a straight edge for a little over a year. This was inspired by a straight razor handed down to me by my grandfather who had unfortuneately sawed off four fingers when he was about 30. He was a wood worker and his straight edge (given to him by a brother in the mid 1920s) has been his tool box ever since.
I use a Dovo stainless steel razor which still isn't as sharp as I would like it to be. I have a Norton 1000 4000/8000 and a shapton 12000 ceramic hones. I have a strops with .5 and .25 micron pastes. Also bought a USB
10x 60x 200x microscope. Also have Lynns DVD.
Just recently ordered a Thurigon stone (not original escher) from Toronto Canada with slurry stone .. to smooth edges. A DMT 8C for flattening my stones and a balsa wood strop with the green Chromediode paste, which I understands can also smooth out a rough burry edge if not overused.
I also purchased a dremel for cleaning and polishing old razors as well as my hubcaps.
I also own one other razor purchased at an antique shop an old H Boker and Company "King Cutter" which still needs a bit of buffing so I will only classify it as being a "Prince"
This razor seems to be sharper and shave a bit closer due to its flex.
I'm hoping my new stones will help to clean up the edge on my stainless steel razor.
Great Forum :-) and very helpfull.
thanks
Geoff (Saving Face). (Vancouver Canada)
