Don't you go resting the edge on those crystals when its honed up :nono::D
Well it's been a while. I've been busy working late in the garage carving some Black Walnut and hammering some brass rivets. :needcoffee:
And now the Razor has a new 1 piece handle, is assembled, stays open in all positions and is ready for honing.
I feel pretty good about the way it turned out especially from the way it started and that this is my first restore.
Oh yeah and don't worry I'll be extra careful and the razor won't be near the crystals after honing.
Nice looking scales. Did you cut the recess with a table saw?
No I don't have a table saw yet. I used a band saw VERY CAREFULLY it wasn't
easy but it got the job done.
Well I started honing and you where right about the shoulder. I thought i took it down enough before. but I had to take it back to the grinder.
Know I just have to learn how to properly hone and I'll be in pretty good shape.
Hey Gand did you get your hones locally or online? If you got them locally where at as I would prefer to drive 45 minutes and buy them locally than grab them online if I can.
I picked up some micro film locally and put it on some granite tile as a base.
it's not ideal but it seems to work. I just need to get good at honing to get my razor shave ready and get a strop.
