Sawasdeekrub from Thailand.
Hey, I'm new to SRP. Just found it today thanks to a great article I found on the art of straight razor shaving.
Quote..
"Here I have to insert a plug for the best straight razor resource on the web, which is a Yahoo! group called Straightrazorplace. The first thing you should do after reading this is to go and join this group, and don’t be afraid to ask questions as beginners are welcome. The group was founded by a gentleman named Lynn Abrams, who has done more than anyone to bring back the straight razor way of shaving...... All in all, even if you never meet another straight razor user in person, you will be part of an online community that has some really nice people in it."
Am I allowed to post a link to this article??
I'm a hairdresser by trade, have been doing it for about 14 years. I'm living in Thailand at the moment, and have been offered a contract by a 5 star resort. There isn't, and doubt there will be, many takers on the haircutting. The management thinks that straight razor shaving would be a hit, and so do I.
As an apprentice, part of my training involved straight razor shaving, but beyond watching a video and shaving a few balloons, we only really just scratched the surface.
I want to learn how to do shaves, and to provide a great service. I know it's going to take practice, and this is the beginning of my research.
I haven't browsed the threads yet because I thought I'd introduce myself first. I won't ask any questions yet, except to say that if anyone can point me in the direction of any particularly good threads for learning the art of performing shaves, things I should really know, tutorials I should check out, etc, I would really appreciate that. At a glance it looks like there is a lot of information out there.
Thanks!
Aaron.
