After lurking for a while, I want to say thanks to the many who contribute to this (and probably several other shaving forums). What a great group of helpful and civilized members.
I started wet shaving a month or so ago, and am amazed what a difference proper technique and preparation can make. I've dreaded shaving each day for years, suffering through razor burns and bumps aggravated by dress shirts and ties.
I now greatly enjoy the experience with a DE and have decided to plunge into straights. I've ordered a couple of nice razors and am thinking that it would be wise to get a "beater" to practice honing and stropping. The idea is to not ruin an expensive razor, nor would I use the practice razor to actually shave. Any thoughts, suggestions?
