Newbie from Santa Barbara!

Whats goin on everyone! My name is Ryne and I go to University of California Santa Barbara. I just recently got into straight razor shaving and well, it hasnt treated me very well thus far but Im determined to stick with it and learn the art. I went against all the advise on this site and bought a new razor for my first, I got a DOVO Blackstar razor and it is gorgeous. The only problem is right out of the box it failed the hanging hair test misirably. I actually had to kind of saw the hair accross the blade to cut it. Well ive been shaving with it for the last week and it is tearing my face apart. SO... is there anyone in the Santa Barbara area on this forum who can hone it for me so it "scary sharp"?
