    Hey,
    Im cutting ties with Gillette.
Got me a Montgomery Ward straight razor yesterday for 12 bucks from an antique store. Store owner said it was from around 1904. Its pretty interesting looking. It has pearl looking scales and it even has some of the same material, celluloid I guess, on the part of the blade that attaches to the scales one little piece is missing. It has Montgomery Ward embossed on that. The end is more rounded and the spine is more angular than some that I have seen. Ill post a pic later.

It had a sharp edge on it but had a little rust. I took to it lightly with a brillo and got the rust off but it is still a little stained. I stropped it for a while on the back of a belt, I even ran it over a fine stone that I have a few times.

I bummed a brush and soap from my inlaw that he had never used and gave it a shot. I actually got a decent shave from my sideburn down my cheek. It pulled a little at first but I kept stropping and I can tell it was getting better.

With the info around here I feel confident that I can make this work pretty good.
    Thanks everyone.

Most definitely send it out for a hone. Some Waas and a dremel buffer will shine it up pretty good.

    Welcome to SRP!

I would definitely send that razor out for a hone and make sure to post some pics of your find Have fun, it's nice to be 'off the grid'.
