I've been lurking for a bit, and recently purchased my first two straights from the classifieds. I've also purchased a strop, but it isn't here yet.

Nonetheless, I took the plunge tonight and had my first shave! Pretty good except for the lip. It pulled quite a bit, so I used my safety razor to finish off. I was a bit apprehensive, so I only touched up the neck after using the safety razor on the first pass.

Everything else was good because of the excellent advice, documentation and videos afforded us here at SRP.

Thanks to all the veterans! Your efforts have converted another member to the permanent ranks of straight razor shavers!

Your start was way better than mine. I'm only 5 mo. ahead of you, but loving it. 'Couldn't agree more about the quality of the help, instructional stuff, and the superb attitudes of the guys (and ladies) here.
