Hey yall,
My name is Jef. I could take time and write a short bio letting everyone know how I ended up here. That would be boring and time consuming. Maybe later.
Long story shortened greatly. I become interested in straight razor shaving after reading an article a friend of mine directs me to on Art of Manliness. Good article. I follow the advice of "trying" the disposable version of a straight razor first. Okay, better shave than what I had before. I decide I want a "real" straight razor. I try to research and research. Then I find yall. There is a WEALTH of knowledge here. More than I can get through in my limited time (I work 2-3 jobs depending on the week).
My loving wife offered to buy me a razor set for Christmas. I want to make the most of said purchase. There is no "shop" where I am from to go veiw razors and such.
I said all of that to say this- I need to know the best place to purchase a set for a beginner online. My budget is around $200.

That way your razor will come proffessionally honed right off the get go too. Otherwise you can check the classifieds here as there are many great vendors offering up good stuff for reasonable prices. The main thing is to have that razor "shave ready" to start...it will make your journey easier
