Delayed Introduction
Hey all, my name is Dane and I got into the straight razor thing about 2 years ago, but am just getting around to posting my introduction. My motivation was to get involved in a classic, manly hobby. I started on SRP to get myself a starter straight (6/8 Double Arrow) and some tips on how to get started. It was a tough start and I only shaved with it occasionally. Recently I decided to give it more of a go and began using it almost exclusively compared to my Mach 3. It was pleasant, but I wasn't totally sold on the pure awesomeness of it. It must have been the blade which, although professionally honed, wasn't giving me the shave so many of you veterans rave about. Wanting to expand my shaving options, I picked up a 4/8 Union Cutlery square point a few weeks ago on the site. Wow! Now I understand what a smooth, close shave is. It has definitely nicked me a few times, but it shaves soooo much better than my first straight. I'm hooked. Can't wait to dive deeper into this classic art form.
About me, briefly:
Former middle school science teacher turned lab technician living in Minneapolis, MN
I consider myself an audiophile. Always drooling over the big gear, but completely satisfied with my rig. Recently started spinning vinyl; brings me back to my childhood. My preference is rock, but when it comes to a great sounding piece, I don't discriminate. Constantly looking for new stuff to satisfy my ears.
Some might call me a beer snob. I welcome the opportunity to try new brews whenever they present themselves. So many to try, so little time.
I've played organized baseball for nearly a quarter century and am now eligible to play "old man" baseball in the 28+ leagues.
Looking forward to expanding my knowledge and eventually my collection with you guys.
