After several months of contemplation I have finally decided to venture into the world of straight razor shaving.
I have yet to order my first razor/strop combo and begin this time-honored practice, but needed to get this message out because a note of gratitude is in order.
The information on this website and the support from its membership is fantastic, and gives me the courage and motivation to get to that exciting step of trying my first straight razor shave. I have read through the wiki (and will review again before first shave) and browsed through some forums, which answered so many of my starter questions.
I plan to purchase a starter razor/strop kit - most likely a Dovo with some forgiving (ex: round-nose) features, with a wider (3") strop so the X pattern doesn't have to be learned simultaneous to the basic technique. Fortunately I have been brush lathering for over ten years, so I have a head start somewhere.
Once I get started I will have the inevitable questions (the devil is in the details), so having the support of this group will be very helpful.
