Thanked: 1Many Thanks
I have been reading on and off on this forum for about year now and finally got my first razor this Xmas. A Gold Dollar shave ready. In a short amount of time it is working out nicely and loving it. Can't get a bbs yet without a little irritation and some blood but nothing to bad and sure it will continue to get better. Stropping was definately the key and this site has helped a bunch.
I am getting some razors that have been in the family also soon and a barbers hone. One might be worth trying to restore will examine it more closely when I get them. Since I need to learn touch up honing and may want to learn some restoration I purchased a cheapo on ebay for about 8 bucks the other day. "solingen razor co." germany as it says. Unless you all tell me its junk its for practice. If it wont take a good edge then I guess bad deal but its in pretty good shape. Little rust and no cracks. Minor restoration project. Metal seems thin to me though (almost just feels too light and cheap). You guys feel free to share your thoughts.
Mainly I just want to thank all those who contribute to this site. I am enjoying and learning so much. I am a little more little the owl that spoke less and heard more (in this case read). I'll chime in from time to time but probably with more questions than answers.
Thanks Again!
Steve
