Default Hacking away in the UK

    Hello everyone.

So the current state of play is as follows... After a shaving career featuring a wide range of gear, from the mediocre to the truly dire, it seemed like a good time to start doing it properly.

A few of weeks ago I invested in a Simpson Berkeley, and somewhere in the postal system there's a Dovo "Best Quality" with my name on it. An El Cheapo strop is ready for me to practice on, and I'm getting the hang of turning Trumper's Sandalwood into a nice rich lather.

Absolutely everyone is expecting me to lop off an ear. I'm hopeful of a less gory outcome. Wish me luck.

    Dave

Welcome to SRP, there are quite a few members in the UK. Is your new razor coming from a supplier who will hone it to 'shave ready' condition. Dovo razors aren't really sharp enough 'out of the box' to succesfully shave with.

Yes it's honed and stropped and should arrive shave-ready. My biggest concern at the moment is that it'll start off surgically sharp and my first stropping will knock the edge off it!

Hello and welcome! If it's coming shave ready then you shouldn't need to strop it for your first shave...only after and for your next shave. Good luck
