    Default hi from new zealand

    hi,

my name is martin and i'm an englishman living in new zealand,i've thought about straight razors on and off for a while but i've always been a bit scared of them if i'm honest, anyway,i've decided to take the plunge and i've bought these-
Cut Throat Razors x 3 - original boxes for sale - TradeMe.co.nz - New Zealand
hopefully at least one of them is worth the work to get them into shape,
anyway,i'm sure i have much reading and many questions before i actually do anything with them,
    cheers
    martin

Hi Martin and welcome to SRP. Looks like those should all be able to be made into fine shavers. Seeing as how you haven't shaved with a straight and probably never honed one, might I suggest that you send one out to be proffessionally honed by someone who knows their stuff. That way you'll have a benchmark if you want to try honing your own but most importantly you'll have a shave ready razor to shave with to remove that "is my razor sharp enough" question from the learning curve.

    Cool

    Hi Martin

Not sure where you are here in NZ. Welcome to NZ, Straights and SRP.

If you are near Auckland or Wellington then the House of Knives do a sharpening service for straights. They did my first for me and I ended up with an edge that was shave ready in my inexperienced hands.

Scott Boness is in Auckland and a SRP member. He advertises on Trade Me too - honing and shave ready razors from time to time. About $15 for honing.

Hope this helps you on the next step of your str8 journey.

Have fun, keep a light touch and remember this is a learning experience.

Hi I am Saby from Mumbai, India and am new on SRP, heard and seen a lot about straight razors and wanted in on this wonderful world not knowing how. Seems like this is the best place to start.
I need a lot of hand holding and a lot of help...
For starters have gone though all the tips and pages dedicated to beginners and now i ant to start but dont know how to purchase my razor since I live in Mumbai - can anyone help with info on how do i purchase on the net and whether they deliver to Mumbai.
Thanks in advance for your replies.
