Boy am I glad theres a support group for this.
Hey guys, My name is Mark. I'm 27 and live in the Tampa Bay area. I got tired of Spending butt loads of money on Mach 5 blades that IMO don't do the best job. I recently picked up a Joseph Allen & Sons Medium Sized Hollow Ground on E Bay looking to restore it myself. I've been creeping the forums for a few weeks and have found countless amounts of help and tips. Unfortunately I think I jumped in over my head as lack of tools, experience, and patience (lol) has left me frustrated and just wanting my first "real" shave already. Tried hand wet sanding and it has proven to be too much, and I cant seem to get it just right. I have made 2 pairs of scales out of leopard wood and zebra wood, still needs to be coated and a wedge made. If anyone would be willing to discount a restore price, since I have done the initial "hard" part, it would be GREATLY appreciated. Would also need a honing, but goes without saying. If no discount, who is experienced and available? I was originally gonna try getting Undream to do it (mostly because his YouTube videos were amazing) but once on his site I noticed he wasn't taking new work at this time. I also picked up a vintage scuttle, Omega #10098 boar brush, and I know it's frowned upon but a B&B Magnum 3.25x25 cowhide strop. Any help will be greatly appreciated... hopefully one day I'll be giving advice to others, thanks in advance.
