Glad to have you here, Marine. Shaving with a straight is like snapping in at the range. It's nothing but practice. Practice your stropping with a butter knife at a slow pace then try the razor. The same with shaving. Master one pass at a time, go slow, and you'll get it.

    Semper Fi.
I strop my razor with my eyes closed.

Semper Fi, hmm hadn't thought of the butterknife idea. I was just going to find a used razor to practice with. Thanks for the advice.

    welcome to srp luke,

it's certainly possible to personalize a razor. usually people use lasers since engraving on already hardened steel is really not the way to go and chemical etching is a bit trickier.

there's a guy ooklathemok or something on this forum who had relatively intricate laser etching on one of his blades. may be a search would uncover it. if i'm not mistaken oldblades/tim did it.

Welcome my friend, the more Texans the Merrier !!! I've read here and on another forum where personalizing a blade can be done, for sure ! I will see if I can't find those posts for you, and a brand new Dovo should center perfect in its scales. If I bought a new razor that didn't center the blade in its scales I'd be pi$$ed ! Send it back, I'm sure they will make it right for you ! Welcome to SRP and Enjoy ! You'll find everything you need here. This is a one stop shop !
