Hi everyone, my name is Paul. I look forward to learning from all you experienced classic shavers. I have been interested in straight razor shaving for about 12 years. Yep, that's 12. I first thought about it when I walked into a shop in a local mall (don't remember the name) that had mostly men's products. I saw some brushes, mugs and double edge razors and I liked the whole idea of it.

I bought myself a mug and brush. Don't remember the brand though, since it's been quite a few years. I think I may have discarded the brush and mug altogether. Besides, there really wasn't any information on the subject back then that I could find. I never took the plunge.

You may be thinking why I never got a straight razor? Well, simply put: fear. But the idea never left my brain. So, recently I did another search and found a wealth of information via websites, videos, and some blogs. I think I have a chance now. I still have the fear. Super sharp blade on my neck, hmmm, scary. (I know I'll have to man-up to this.)

So after checking out some more info I think I want to start out with a double edge razor. My dad used one and I think as a teenager I may have used it a few times when I started shaving. So, if anyone here does use a double edge or has in the past, I welcome your advice on brands. Maybe once I feel comfortable and confident enough I may then actually delve into the straight razor world.

I must admit that I really like the idea of being able to use a really beautiful straight razor. I have seen some really, really beautiful razors on eBay and here too.

I am looking forward to contributing to this site and especially learning from all the experienced shavers.
