Thumbs up Phil From Bedford, KY

    Hello!
I live in a small town in KY called Bedford which is about an hours drive north of Louisville and just south of the Ohio River.
I just registered after being referred to this site by Christopher Moss who has written a very useful PDF about shaving with a straight razor, honing and stropping, the right brush and shaving soap. I agree that in these times, the cost of cartridge blades is way too expensive. I like to work with my hands and all aspects of the art of shaving with a straight razor interests me very much.
I want to learn about the straight razor, honing and stropping and eventually purchase a good used straight razor. I hope you all can help me with advice as I progress.
    Thanks very much!

    Welcome!

Chris Moss is a good guy and a wealth of straight razor knowledge. If you ever get down to SE Missouri, look me up and I'll be happy to help you with your straight razor honing and restoration adventures.

    Have fun,

    Lynn

    Welcome,

I learned and am still learning from this website and from Lynn Abrams CD.

I highly recommend that you read, ask a lot of questions, and get Mr Abrams CD. It is not hard to learn how to use a straight razor if you get all the information and supplies you need first. Keep in mind that you WILL cut yourself. It is all part of the learning curve. Read the Wiki on this website. It will answer most of your questions.

I think I found is that straight razor shaving is great and addicting. Never had a better shaving experience that I have in the last couple of months.

    Best regards,
    Johan

    Thanks very much Johan!
I visit this site every day and am doing a lot of reading about SR's and hones. I think this will become a great hobby with the benefit of a great shave. Maybe someday soon I'll be knowledgeable enough to do restoration. Thanks for writing. You guys are all great and should be commended! Lynn Abrams's CD is on my shopping list.
    Phil
