Welcome Wolverine. Good to have you on board. You will not be disappointed if you want to get into str8 razor shaving. SRP has heaps of good people with great experience and knowledge.
You need to grab yourself a nice shave ready razor, no need to spend heaps of $$$ (unless you want to). Plenty of good razors in the classifieds. Also check out Wiki.
Enjoy,
Stu

Hey, I'm new too but have had a bunch of helping hands reach out to me. Definately check out the Wiki section and read the beginners parts. They were very helpful to me when picking a good first razor. Particularly, it recommended starting in the center of the spectrum for each category such as: size (6/8), Half Hollow, rounded point, "shave ready," and price expectations.
I found a great first razor in the classifieds, here just recently. I purchased from an awesome individual who has great feedback and was very helpful. His name is "hi_bud_gl." if you see a razor you like of his, definately ask him a question about it and he'll get right back to you. I'm hearing awesome things about the honing skills of Lynn. My advice... Get a decent strop, a badger hair brush and don't worry about the look of the razor as much as the functionality of it.
I haven't figured out any techniques yet, but if I come across anything really helpful, I'll shoot 'em your way. Good luck, friend.
