Greetings from the Actic Ocean
FYI I don't live in the Arctic. I live down in Oregon, but I'm on a sea going tug here in the Arctic Ocean, Prudhoe Bay to be exact. There's Wi Fi around here, so I thought I'd use it to get involved with SRP.
I've been shaving with a SE for several years now, but feel a bit like a newbie when I read posts by some of the senior members. In other words, I think I've got a lot to learn. And there is a wealth of information on the SRP. In fact so much so that it sometimes renders me afflicted with, what I call, analysis paralysis.
If you're wondering, yeah I do use a SE while at sea. To be sure this can add challenges to getting the job done, especially when its rough.
I use old razors and my collection includes two made in Sweden by Erik Anton Berg. Both are in good condition, one is almost new. The other one looks like the blade is swedged into a separate piece of steel along the back, it has an etching of a shark on one side of the blade and the words "Skydds Marke" under it.
I also have an old razor with a shot blade. It bought it with its original box. It is an Otto Deutsch Hans. The handles are perfect but the blade is shot, which is too bad because it looks like it might have been a classy razor at one time. The handles look black until you hold it up to the light, then you see that they are green, with silver filagree and writing. Real pretty.
So I look forward to participating on the SRP website. My first question would be if anyone knows where one can get a razor that needs a little rehab and sharpened taken care of? The second question is: how do you post a picture? Thanks.
