Default Hello hi and hey (Introduction)

I have recently switched over from disposable cartridges and canned shaving foam. I bought a cheap used straight (but i did my research, it came from whipped dog). I also ordered a selection of shaving creams and aftershaves, as well as samplers from truefitt & hill and cf from colonial drug. Im now experimenting with my samples to see what I like. i am waiting on my hones and diamond paste. (for when I need them. I'll be using some mighty sharp kitchen knives until then.)

Of couse, as you may have gleaned, when I do something, I do it all out. After three progressively closer, cleaner, and nick free shaves, I am obviously sold on wetshaving. Deciding that, I decided to invest in a few more razors. The number of straight razors I own is now greater than the number of times I have used one. The money doesnt particularly concern me, as I bargain hunt well, and could at least recoop my investment if I decide I dont like one of them. The razors I purchased today include 2 4/8 straights, one a new Dovo and one a vintage Griffon 60 carbo magnett that I got for 16$ on ebay, incl shipping. (Hardly any rust, no chipping and the blade looks straight and intact, from what I could tell). The other razor I got was a Dovo 105 en vogue (totally cool looking), whose performance I hope lives up to its appearance. I am looking forward to learning more about these as I restore the Griffon, hone the Dovos, and make new scales for them all (I'm a DIYer, which is why these appeal to me so much) out of snakewood and abalone shell, and ultimately use them.

I already whittled a brush body and inserted my super silvertip 26mm tgn knot into it. It seems too large though, so I ordered a smaller brush today.

Once I'm confident in my understanding of their handling and balance, I will probably make a few blades too. I have been wanting to make a pocket knife anyway, so I already have the tools and the steel, and I think fashioning a few of these out of 1095 would be good practice before I move up to cpm154 and m390, and ultimately some more refined looking damascus pieces. I am of the mindset that if it's something worth owning, it's something worth improving, and who knows what suits me better than I?

I seem to have found a new hobby, so I'm sure you'll see me around the forums. Having perused these pages for about two weeks now, I would have posted something earlier, but there is such a wealth of information that I found the answers to all my questions without needing to ask them

    Question:
One thing I have noticed is that I consistently am getting a closer and less irritated shave on the left side of my neck than on the right. I am right handed. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
