    Default Hello from Puerto Rico

Hi, I started shaving with a straight razor in march of this year. I was brought there by a Christmas gift from the year before, believe it or not one of these Gillette 5 blade disposable cartridge razors. Once the cartridges got dull I saw I had to shell out like $14.00 for a new set, and just then on YouTube I saw about this guy who would strop the cartridge razor on his forearms and had made it last a year. This piqued my curiosity because I do not like our wasteful "disposable" culture, and while I managed to strop my 5 blade razor to last me about seven months, this got me to remember when I was young and would go to the barbershop and saw clients being shaved with a straight razor. So then I decided to get one, and on march of this year I bought a Dovo "Best Quality" from Straight Razor Designs. Since then I have been learning, bought a honing stone, and strop, and it has taken me until August to get a decent shave. It is a lot of fun and I thank this site which I used to read as a visitor, for the answers to many questions that popped up. I look forward to what's coming up, learning and purchasing a few razors, and am glad to have changed shaving from a chore into a relaxing pleasure.
