Thanked: 1newbie from Tx
Greeting Gentlemen;
Let me start off by saying this is a great forum - I lost a whole weekend just reading old posts.
By the way of introduction I was an electric shaver - with bic single disposables as a backup when I forgot to charge.
As part of my MGHOW lifestyle I wanted to get back to the manly arts - and shaving with a straight razor is about as manly as you can get without using a bowie knife.
I bought a Col Conk brush and soap from the Mast Gen store last year and lathered up when I shave (my elec is wet/dry) and I was getting a close shave but I knew I was missing something.
So after doing some 'net surfing I came here and read and read and.... well you know
I wanted to try shaving but not sure what to get - so I went to Amazon a got a Parker SRW and some Shark blades.
The package arrived yesterday and like any guy with a new toy I fondled it (yea I know) for an unusually long time and then took the plunge.
I washed my face - worked up a good lather - put in a blade in the Parker and with nervous trepidation started shaving.
The right side of my face went well - until a weeper started above my jaw - not to be dissuaded I kept on and shaved the left side and my neck (that was f*ckin scary) but on the whole the shave went pretty good.
I ended up with that weeper on my right jaw - and a few small knicks on the upper side of my left cheek - from holding the blade too long in one place.
I shaved again tonight - not ready to shave in the morning I shave at night in case I really screw up I wont be freshly bloody at work.
This time the only cuts I got were on my left side - I need to figure out how to hold the blade in my left hand - keeping it in my dominant right hand is awkward shaving the left side - my neck has a few rough spots but nothing major (actually it’s about the same as I got with the elec)
My cheeks are smooth though.
Thanks again for this forum - I can see yet another weekend lost here.
Regards
