    Default Greetings

Hello and thank you for a great site. I just bought a vintage Dovo and a new strop. It was billed as shave ready but won't tackle my tough chin whiskers (was OK on my cheeks). I'll be taking advantage of the advice here and look forward to learning this new/old skill.

    Hi and welcome to SRP!

Chins are tricky areas so it might just be a learning curve issue rather than the razor being not shave ready. Or, it could be not shave ready. It is very hard to say. Perhaps, if you can, send the razor out to an experienced honer near you to check it out. You can at least eliminate one source of uncertainty that way.

    Best of luck to you!

    James.

Thanks. I think I will send it out to get honed so I know what it should feel like. Unfortunately I don't think there is anyone near me who offers this service. I will have to send it to Ontario (a few provinces away). There are some members from there in the vendors section offering honing services.

    Thanks for the welcome,

    Peter
