Thanked: 0What-Ho from Guernsey
Hello, everyone,
I'm just starting out on the Straight Razor trail after many happy years of DE shaving. My beginners kit is my old DE gear (Semogue 1460 boar, Tabac stick, and Merkur 11C with various blades- love the Treet carbon steel) plus a Ford & Medley 6/8", a First English leather strop ( an e-bay purchase) and my Grandfather's "Thuringian Celebrated Water Razor Hone", which I found in my toolbox.
The Ford & Medley is an unused 80-year old blade, restored and scaled by Steve at The Invisible Edge, and a lovely job he's done.
I'm reading as much as I can and watching some videos. There's a lot to learn, but no hurry. I really appreciate all the help and information available at SRP.
I wonder if anyone with more experience thinks that the kit I have should keep me going indefinitely, given that if I buy another razor it wii be a shave-ready one. I don't see myself restoring old, blunt razors, just maintaining one that's already been sharpened by an expert. If not, what should I be thinking about buying next?
Thanks for reading and happy shaving.
Paul
