Hi all,
I've been wet shaving with a safety razor for several years, and a few weeks ago I casually mentioned to my girlfriend that I'd always wanted a straight razor. I'm a fanatic for things from bygone eras; I like things that were made with care and attention, and it reminds me of my summers with my grandparents overseas.

... so this Christmas I got a DOVO Astrale along with a Straight Razor Designs strop from my better half. Been lurking for several days, figured I'd finally say hi.

First off I wanted to say thanks - I don't think I could have taken the plunge without the trove of information on here, and I'm sure I would have destroyed the edge on my new gift.
