Names Jared, I'm from around Tomball area in Texas which is near Houston.
I have always been big in knifes and honing my knifes to keep them sharp. I decided I was tired of wasting money on fusion cartridges for the great ingrown hairs. Decided to try straight razor shaving. I first got into and loved it even though the razor was below par and definitely not shave ready. But that just made is more intriguing and challenging.
I read a lot and everyone said to have your razor honed before trying to hone yourself.

Well I am also stubborn. And if I can shave with my knifes why shouldn't I be able to shave with a razor. I learned the reason. Lol. But I am stubborn so I didn't give up on straight razor shaving. Finally I checked out the forums here and learned a lot. I bought a new razor that said it was "hand honed" well that shave wasn't very desirable. I sent my razor to be professional honed and still I was disappointed.

Finally I was aggravated and sat down sharpened a skinning knife and had the best shave I have had since starting. Funny and sad all at the same time. Posted on the forums and got some help. Now I get to enjoy the best shave every day. Thanks for the help. I look foreword to being a member and getting help. Because I know I need it lol.
