Hi everyone,
I'd just like to respectfully prompt newbies and also everyone else to maybe take the time to update your 'About Me' part of your profile if you wish and if you have the time.

I find it very helpful and informative when I can see at least where people are from. I feel we have a very diverse membership here and it's really very interesting to see all the places people are from and also what you're interested in (apart from straight razors).

Also, the 'Albums' area is a great place to showcase your gear.

Often it takes a while for us all to get to know each other well, and at times I actually forget where people are from and what they do for a crust, etc. I find I often have a quick squiz at the profile page of members to remind myself and I find it a little disappointing when there's no information there.

So come on, take a few minutes and give us a little background. We're a very friendly respectful bunch of people, we're all mates and it's good to know a bit about your mates! It's build the camaraderie etc.

Also, I had a look a little while ago at actually who was on-line. I may have it wrong, but I was surprised at how many 'guests' there were. It may be that a lot of people are 'lurkers'. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it'd be nice if a good portion of the 'guests' made the transition to 'profiles'.

I often see people with problems where I could help if they were nearby, or I could send them something (some blade they're curious about, whatever), but I don't even want to start down that path unless I have some idea who/where I'm dealing with. So far, everyone I've wanted to help in some way has a blank profile, and I just move on. Their loss, not mine.

Excellent suggestion Carl. A recent new member had purchased some vintage blades and needed them honed; so I offered to hook him up. Now, I've done 3 blades honed, and potentially some resto work down the line. Unfortunately, he travels a lot for his job, and between that and spending time with his family, doesn't allot much time to post as much as he would like. However, we do keep in touch through e-mail and PM 3-4x's/week. So, I guess what I'm saying is, to the folks just lurking ( I was one myself at one point), sign up...it's free for goodness sake! Also, doing so can give you many contacts, and help that is more personalized than a few random posts that you stumbled on from google will ever give you.

Please put some thing in the location block it helps everybody and keeps others from having to ask later. A country, region, territory, state, city, town anything is better than a blank.
