    Default Hello SRP!

    Hey everyone,
I have gained an interest in straight razor shaving after my father recommended it for my sensitive skin. I am 19 and have to shave every other day (which doesn't seem like much for most of you I imagine!), but it is hard finding razors that don't cause irritation without spending a fortune. I am on the road a lot, traveling, and experienced my first straight razor experience at a spa in a hotel a few weeks ago after a phone conversation with my father. It was incredible. My skin was never dry or tight for the for the next 3 days, and so began my obsession.

Like every other new member, I am ready to begin and practice myself. I have scoured the FAQ's and threads only to have more and more questions, like I said, I am obsessed. Where do I start? A good blade and strop? What kind and where can I trust to find them? Creams, mineral oils, brushes, etc.? What do I need? Being 19, I am on a budget and with my current job, I can't really afford to slice up my mug too much! But I would spend a bit extra for value and longevity.
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks!
    - Satchel

Ok so one last question for the thread! My father has an extra older razor that he has not used in a few years. Most likely needs honed and refurbished a bit. Who has any recommendations on where I can send it get worked on? What is a good price for it?

check the member services in the classifieds, there are a few guys who do restorations. the work they do is always amazing. as for price that will have to be worked out with whoever is doing the work.
