    Default Hello from France.

    Hello everyone,

I started straight razor shaving a few weeks ago, and already love it and I thought it could be a good idea to discuss and exchange with people from all over the world, so here I am !

I bought my first straight razor online, and the seller was offering a «shave ready option», so just a few stroke on the leather strop and here I go : My first shave. And I've been quite proud of the result actually, since I (almost) didn't cut myself, and the shaving was very soft.

I still have problems with the chin, since my jaw bones are pretty prominent and angular, but I'm working on it !

And for now, I can show you my "beginner kit" !

    So far, I have :
    - A «Dovo Prima Steel», made in Solingen, Germany.
    - A «Herolds Prima Rindleder» leather strop, made in Germany too.
    - A cheap, yet good for a beginner, french-made brush.

I hope my english isn't too bad (it's actually a good exercise to be here !).

    Bonjour Giuseppe,

It looks like you are doing great! Nice kit you've got there. It's normal to face difficulty on the chin. Short buffing strokes works well in that area and make sure you have a good thick lather as well.

I hope you continue to enjoy this hobby.

    Hey Giuseppe,

Nice to read that you have mastered your first shave!

Start building confidence from here and soon it will progress into a great joy.
Your kit is a similar to what I and a lot of others here started with.
You won’t get bored here on SRP; there are lots of informative threads, ‘how to’ videos and tons of info.

    Happy shaves!
    Au revoir.

Welcome, Giuseppe. I just got back from your beautiful country and looking forward to returning.
Looks to me that you have a nice razor there. I just recently started shaving with a straight razor and today was the first time I felt comfortable using it. It takes time and patience.

    Bonne chance. Ray.
