Hello all, finally joining the community...
Greetings all, my name is Darryl. I'll try to make this brief, but I have so much to say..
Being in the military and having to shave every day, I got tired of the money I was spending on disposables and struck on the idea of buying a straight. A little bit of Googly-Googly, and lo and behold, I found this entire community dedicated to the discipline.
I purchased my first razor from SRD (Dovo Black Star 5/8- cool scales were the deciding factor) and jumped right in. Soon I figured that I'd need at least one more razor to get me through when I sent the first one out for honing, so I bought a second (Dovo La Forme 6/8 - again, cool looking scales).
It didn't take long to decide I should hone my own razors, so I bought a set of stones and read/watched everything I could on honing.
Shortly after THAT, I decided I wanted to try my hand at restoration, and I just picked up my first old razor on Ebay (the jury is still out on whether it's a decent razor or if I done got took).
All of this inside of six months time. So much for all of that money I was going to save by using a straight...
Anyhow, practically everything I've learned, I've learned here. I owe a lot of you's guys a huge thank you, and I'm looking forward to being part of such a manly community (no slight to the ladies, who are all no doubt ladies through and through).

Shaving is no longer a chore but a hobby. You can spend money on hobbies. Haha.

Oh yeah, real manly community.....now, what scent will I used for my shaving cream today? Lavender? Lilly? Lemongrass tinged with wildberry infused jojoba? lol!
