    Default emef2506

just wanted to introduce myself I'm emef 2506 and just about to start straight shaving
i'm sure i'll have plenty of questions, As I have only borrowed a straight from my barber ( it was a test) and wow I really liked it. So here I am, I've done quite a bit of research and ordered my own and when it arrives I'll be off and running. Does anyone have an opinion of the Dovo best quality 6/8 , it seemed to be the right way to go as I'm just beginning

Welcome to SRP! I was a long time lurker here and it literally has taught me everything I know. Check out the Wiki section for a lot of great info and if you cant find an answer to a question there, odds are someone has had and asked a similar question! Dive in and enjoy!

    Hi emef2506, welcome to SRP.

Does anyone have an opinion of the Dovo best quality 6/8 ?

+1. An excellent first razor. Did you purchase it "shave ready", that is, sharpened by the vendor since leaving the factory?

Hi to all , I took my first shave with my own razor and it was quite different from the shavette I borrowed got a few nicks and slight burn, guess this one will take a bit to get the handle of. otherwise it was a very satisfying experience. the following day My shave improved my feel is getting better. will go at it again tomorrow ( give my skin a little time to calm )
I have a couple of questions though 1. can I change my grip on the razor or is there just the one way of holding it, its a little awkward trying to shave under my jaw line in the standard grip . 2. I wear a goatee and found it difficult to use the heel of the blade to shave around it, is there a better technique? I welcome any advice
    Regards

    1. Hold the razor any way that is comfortable, safe, and effective. But try the ones in the Wiki/Library article Razor Grips first.

    2. Try the toe, switching hands for each side. Or go completely clean shaven

Congratulations on the first straight shave, but don't worry if you have to use another type of razor to clean up. We all had to deal with the learning curves, they get better.

Hard to go wrong with any Dovo razors. Have fun with your new hobby!
