Default Hi From Wiltshire in the UK

Hi to all, my name is Phil and I live in the UK. Never used a straight razor but got interested in them as my son has very successfully started using one and has asked me to restore and re scale a very old razor he recently purchased. ( I have in the past made and restored knives - hence his request ! )
I am looking forward to browsing the forum and learning some new ideas and techniques from some of the experts on here.
Have recently purchased an old Wade & Butcher in pretty good condition and hoping to work on this to become my first user ! ( with a little help from you guys, I will learn to shave properly ! )

G'Day Phil and a warm welcome to you.

Isn't it interesting that you are learning to shave from your son and not the other way around.

Either way, we're glad to have you on board.
Hang on and enjoy the ride...

    Welcome aboard!

Have you found the library yet? Plenty of info on restoring / re-scaling razors (and shaving, stropping, honing...) in there. (Link at the top left of forum pages.)

Thanks guys for the welcome. It got me thinking about what you said re son starting father off with a straight razor !
I reckon that helping to bring up two children and working very long hours never left me with much quality time to spend on myself, so it was always a quick touch over mostly with an electric razor; just for speed.
Now I have more time on my hands, I am going to use this Forum to learn from the experts how to give myself a well earned PROPER shave !!
So please bear with me if I ask any silly questions .

The only silly question is the one you don't ask, mate
