Georgetown Pottery G20 scuttle for Christmas

I've never tried the others, but I have a Dirty Bird and it works quite well at building lather and keeping it warm. I, of course, have switched to cold water and usually face lathering, so I only use it on THE Coldest of days, one of which was yesterday. It also works to keep lather cold if that's your thing!

The G20 is the first and only scuttle I have used. I like it, but don't think anyone should buy is based solely on the stopper.

Pick whatever scuttle you like and then you can buy or make a tapered cork to plug the fill hole.

I'd agree. I used a torn piece of cloth to plug the hole on the SRD scuttleto keep the water in. I put water in the lather bowl to initially soak my brush in then pour it out when I create lather. So I need a stopper. Home made or not, doesn't matter. As for the ridges, I don't know how much better they are from no ridges. I didn't notice any difference when I use the G20 or the SRD scuttle. Both are great.

Got one on order tonight after reading all the reviews on the G20. The ole mugs tackled it we'll enough since being "fired" from holding coffee but this new unit looks like it will pick up the work from here.

I don't have one yet but I've been wanting to get a g20 for quite some time now.

LOL, I was doing the same thing. Then I would be so focused on the shave that I would forget and leave the bowl on the side of the sink, then that lather cools. My G20 is a welcomed addition.

The stopper on the G20 is rubber and pewter. Should I worry about putting the pewter in the microwave? You aren't supposed to put metal in a microwave I've always heard. . I have been taking the stopper out to microwave the scuttle and it's no big deal. Just curious. Don't want my MW to explode. :)

Leave the stopper off for MW. The pressure might shoot it into the magnetometer even if you could live with the sparks.

I got mine(G20) in the mail today but hadn't considered putting it in the MW. How long have you been leaving it in there? I will pass only leaving the stopper in it!
